Ancient oil painting on canvas "Portrait of a Scholar" depicts this elderly man with a flowing beard and a book in his hand, probably a scholar or doctor. The painting, from the school of northern Italy, probably from Emilia, from the seventeenth century, is particular for the light it emanates and for the figure that emerges from the dark background and almost emerges with the hand and the book from the painting itself, giving almost a three-dimensional image . The original frame in black lacquered wood is also very beautiful, framed by an elegant sculpted and gilded silhouette.
