Gaspare Lopez, known as Gasparo dei Fiori (Naples 1677 - Florence 1732) "Still life with flower vases" Oil on canvas Canvas measures 58 x 44 frame 73 x 60 In excellent condition, clean and relined. Referable to the Neapolitan school, the still life in question shows close stylistic analogies with the works of Gaspare Lopez, protagonist of 18th century Neapolitan painting in the wake of Andrea Belvedere and the French flourishing. The work documents very well the expressive qualities of the painter who is able to create a sequence of similar compositions with contempt without falling into the banality of illustrative replication. In comparison, we can mention the Still life of flowers already on the Milanese antiques market and published by Alberto Cottino (see Cottino, 2010, p.16, fig. 16). Reference bibliography: B.
