Rare antique majolica fireplace second half of the 19th cent

Very rare antique fireplace in hand-painted enamelled majolica. A complex and elaborate form that defines its period around the second half of the 19th century, since rather simple models were made until the 1920s. The first open fireplaces of this kind made of ceramic made their appearance towards the end of the eighteenth century made with the technical and functional characteristics of the famous fireplaces designed by Benjamin Franklin. Type of fireplaces made of metal in America while terracotta in Italy especially in Piedmont where there was great availability of clays. The fireplace we offer for sale is of particular value and remarkable workmanship as it is not made of simple terracotta but precious majolica fireplaces of this importance are placed in many Savoy residences. Ancient article used to emphasize that probably the counter-heart or the black metal frame placed at the mouth of the fire may not be contemporary, in fact they were decorated in low relief.
