The proposed painting is to be placed in the pictorial production of Felice Fortunato Biggi from Parma, nicknamed de 'Fiori for his elegant floral bouquets characterized by a remarkable compositional harmony, considered one of the best florists active in northern Italy during the second half of the seventeenth century. Born in Parma around 1650, Biggi soon left his hometown to go to Verona, where his presence is recorded starting from 1680, after a probable training in Rome in the workshop of Mario Nuzzi de 'Fiori, attested by some paintings which show its strong influence.
The work shows a rounded vase filled with a variegated bouquet of flowers in vibrant colors and elegantly combined with each other; in the bouquet there are tulips, lilies, dahlias, narcissus and other botanical varieties, arranged on a dark neutral background against which the bright colors, from bright whites, to shades of pink and bright reds, typical of its production, stand out.
It is in fact a composition that fully reflects the executive typology of the Biggi workshop, which was able to combine Flemish references, especially in the chiaroscuro contrasts, with classical elements drawn from the Roman still lifes typical of Mario Nuzzi (Rome, 1603 - 1673).
